When our society becomes so uncomfortable about a topic that we stop collectively discussing it, we risk loosing our knowledge and traditions. The discomfort around the topics of death, dying and grief have made it so that we don't often discuss the practical realities or the support necessary until we are confronted directly with the our own mortality or the dying process of a friend or family memeber. Death Education is for everyone, not just the terminally ill. The more we are willing to talk about the subject the more we will be prepared to sit with death in personalized and meaningful ways when the time comes.
